Clerk White announces a new payment option for posting bail in Marion County

05/13/2008

INDIANAPOLIS – Marion County Clerk Beth White announced today that residents wishing to post cash bonds can now do by using their credit/debit cards.

“We’ve already seen success in offering credit/debit card payments in our Child Support division and extending this service to post bail makes a lot of sense,” Clerk White said. “This service is a convenient, flexible way to pay bail, especially during those times when banks are closed.”

To make an electronic payment, arrestees or others are asked to call a toll-free number on-site at the Arrestee Processing Center located at 752 E. Market St. or the City-County Building, Room 7644. The cardholder must then present a photo ID to finalize the transaction.

“We have been offering payment solutions to criminal justice agencies across the county for more than ten years,” said Dale W. Conrad, CEO of GovPayEXP. “We are eager to make this a successful partnership with the Marion County Clerk’s office.”

Marion County does not pay a fee to GovPayEXP; rather, the cardholder pays a fee for the service at the time of the transaction. Most major credit cards are accepted – Visa®, MasterCard®, Discover® and American Express®.

Headquartered in Marion County, Indiana, GovPayEXP contracts with more than 1,100 agencies nationwide as a merchant processor for consumer payments to government agencies. For more company information, visit www.GovPayEXP.com or call toll-free at (888) 561-7888.
